Ref's Poll Notes

While the first poll taken completely after the Obama "clinging to guns and religion" comment showed a twenty-point lead for Clinton, other polls show a smaller bounce or no bounce at all.  Obama's comments probably ended any chance of a Pennsylvania upset, but they have not sunk his candidacy for the nomination.

VIDEO: Huge Problem for Democrats - Large number of Democrats willing to vote McCain - Expect Dems to go nuclear on McCain

Obama Pressed in Pa. Debate - VIDEO - Obama did poorly last night. He essentially repeated his "clinging to guns and religion" comment while saying he stated it poorly at the San Francisco fundraiser.  The problem for Obama is that his line of reasoning, even the one he used last night in the debate, sounds like socialism.  He is saying that people "cling" to religion when their economic situation weakens.  His critics disagree with that assumption, believing that many religious people "cling" to their religion no matter what their economic circumstances.  He does not get it yet. Unless he modifies this reasoning his opponents will hammer him as a socialist.  His answers on his practice of not wearing a flag pin and on Ayers, essentially that people should back off because he has good personal reasons for these things, demonstrate his lack of understanding of the role of a President as a symbol whose personal actions become highly public and very important.

'60s Radicals Become Issue in Campaign of 2008 - VIDEO - At least the New York Times acknowledged the existence of Bill Ayers.  Obama will hear much more about this in the general election.

In Pa. Debate, The Clear Loser Is ABC - Tom Shales, who wrote this article, seems to think Obama and Clinton should have every right to expect the media to protect them.  This article is a clear example of the liberal media double standard.

Obama saying his friendship with Ayers should be ignored. This demonstrates Obama's lack of understanding of the symbolic role of the President.  A President must reject all relationships with terrorists.
